What started as a casual conversation with the incredibly talented Nomfundo Myeni turned into one of the most meaningful campaigns I’ve had the privilege to be part of. From that first chat to first day on shoot, every moment felt right.
It all began with visual from the Abolova.com website—images rooted in identity, culture, and everyday black culture style. Those visuals sparked a question: What does that look like through the lens of the VW brand? Fast forward—and there I was, not just contributing, but fully immersed as both photographer and art director.
This campaign isn’t just about a car. It’s about the lifestyle and legacy of the Golf—from the Golf 1 to the Golf 8. We got to tell real stories from real drivers and show how the VW Golf is woven into the fabric of South African culture.
I loved every second of this project. Not just because of the final product.
But because it was built on collaboration, culture, and creativity that felt deeply personal.
